We are pleased to update our Sauerland tour for 2024!
After working with our motorcycle friendly partner hotel for overnight stops on the way to the Harz Mountains, the hotel's popularity and great riding possibilities have made it a natural choice for somewhere to spend some more time! So here is the tour!
The Sauerland is called the "state of a thousand mountains" and as you ride you will also learn that it is also known as the "state of the thousand bends". And they come in all shapes, sizes and degrees of difficulty. Touring bikers are generally very welcome guests in the region of beers and reserviors. The Suaerland's tourist board sets the standard encouraging motorcycle guests to the region. Go and explore away from our base and the Sauerland's most famous resort, Winterberg, and set your sights on higher things. Of course it goes without saying that you can't ride over the Kahlen Asten, 841 metres above sea level and the highest peak in the region, without stopping.
After a relaxing overnight sailing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland (other departure ports available at a supplement) it's a relatively short ride of about 240 miles to the Sauerland where you will spend four nights.
Your 3* standard hotel is located in the the centre of the popular tourist resort of Winterberg. The town is popular during the summertime especially with motorcyclists and during the wintertime it is a popular ski resort. The hotel is located on the Rothaarsteig hiking trail and is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. There a shops and bar and restaurants to suit all tastes.
The hotel offers a large buffet breakfast and traditional German food is served in the Alt Amsterdamer Stuben restaurant with terrace. The Volldampf music bar offers drinks and dancing. All rooms have balcony or terrace, satellite TV and private bathroom. WiFi is available in public areas of the hotel.
And last but not least there is safe garage parking for your motorcycle!
