NEW ALTERNATIVE ITINERARY: In response to requests we are able to offer an alternative itinerary for this tour with three overnight stays for the journey to and from Lake Garda. The outward journey takes you through France with a night in Metz then a lovely stay near the German border. Then there is a super stay on Lake Maggiore followed by a short ferry ride to start your day to Lake Garda. The return ride takes you to the beautiful Allgau region of Germany, the Black Forest and Luxembourg. A great way to travel to and from your lakeside stay. Please ask for details
Lake Garda has many attractions - you can take a boat trip the length of the lake or take a lakeside ride through the many delightful villages that look out over its tranquil waters. Visit the castle at Malcesine, head off south to Sirmione and work your way back along the west coast of the lake past superb villas and period properties that take you back to the 1890s - a period of elegant extravagance. For those who prefer the challenge, there are planned rides out into the Dolomites - a vast mountainous terrain offering dramatic landscapes of lowland valleys, secluded villages and precipitous rock faces - and the odd twisty road. Explore the twists and curves of the Great Dolomite Road all the way to Cortina d'Ampezzo - what a fantastic riding experience!
Head north past Riva Del Garda into the Trentino Region to explore some great biking roads leading up to the ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio. Venice is but a short ride away and it would be a shame not to spend a day in romantic Verona the setting for Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Book a night at the Opera in the atmospheric surroundings of the Roman Amphitheatre at Verona - now that really is a once in a lifetime experience.
You will travel to and from Italy using two overnight stops in good quality hotels en route. Then stay for six nights in a super three star hotel only a short walk from the northern shores of Lake Garda and the resort centre.
