Come along on this brilliant motorcycle riding adventure and travel first to the Spanish world heritage city of Salamanca where you will ride your motorbike into the city centre to see the beautiful shell-shaped sandstone embellishments on the Cathedral walls and the ornate architecture surrounding the Plaza Mayor. Safely park your motorcycle at the hotel and have a coffee in the square in the late afternoon then sit and watch as the buildings change from bright orange to a purple red as the sun goes down. Salamanca really is a beautiful Spanish city that you can wander around and simply enjoy.
Ride your motorcycle to the Spanish border and continue on a country route that brings home the unspoilt nature of much of rural Portugal before arriving at the delightful Portuguese fishing village of Ericeira just north of Lisbon. Stay for two nights in a modern four star Hotel built on a promontory that juts out into the sea. Awake to the sound of waves lapping the shoreline in the bay adjacent to the hotel. The views are relaxing and inviting - maybe a short walk on the beach before riding your motorbike into Lisbon for a tour of the capital city of Portugal? Or take a motorbike ride out to charmingly quirky Sintra, one of Portugal's most captivating towns. Such is Sintra's beauty that the the royal family made it their summer residence.
It's well worth a visit on one of your motorcycle rides out!
After two nights we continue our motorcycle tour via historic Coimbra in Portugal and ride to the verdant wine-growing area of the Douro Valley. Our base for three nights is a four star hotel occupying a unique position directly overlooking the river. It's a great place from which to explore on your motorbike. The breathtaking views and stunning scenery of this unspoilt area of rural Portugal appropriately described by writer Miguel Torga as "geological poetry". Our motorcycle ride out follows curves along the river, through undulating terrain, past Moorish castles to the UNESCO heritage site of Porto, where tall-masted ships still anchor at the dockside with their traditional cargo of Port oaken barrels.
We head away from Portugal on a lovely scenic route and arrive back in Spain for a great last night in historic Burgos. Our partner 4* hotel is well located for discovering the centre and has secure garage parking. On your last day in Spain enjoy a great route that we have refined over the years back to the port for your leisurely sailing back to England.
Enjoy fantastic motorcycle riding along sweeping roads through glorious countryside covered in vineyards, superb four star hotels and a relatively short crossing on one of the new Brittany Ferries cruise ships from UK to Spain.
