Come and join us on this 19 day adventure to Norway and the Arctic Circle.
Norway via Denmark. Ride your motorbike through two different countries, a fascinating destination and wild untamed countryside await you on this amazing Viking adventure.
Rural landscapes in Denmark, contrasted by plunging, deep sided fjords, majestic peaks, stunning scenery and coastal splendour in Norway. From the mild southern fjords to the wild coastal and northern areas we have planned this tour to include the best that Norway has to offer. It is a true motorcycle riding feast.
The tour takes you from Harwich to Hook of Holland on an overnight sailing. After an overnight stop near Hamburg we ride to the northern tip of Denmark to catch our ferry to Norway. Spending two nights in the Stavanger region we will ride the famous hairpin road at Lysebotn and (optional) hike to Pulpit Rock for amazing views over the fjord.
Our ride next day is through scenery of jaw-dropping beauty as we ride our motorcycles alongside fjords where the still waters reflect the sky in a complete mirror image. On a clear, still day every bend is a major photo opportunity - it really is just sooo pretty. We spend the next two nights in a super hotel in Ulvik overlooking the magnificent Hardanger Fjord. On the free day join us on ride out to the world heritage city of Bergen. The old Hanseatic wharf is architecturally unique and is perhaps one of the most familiar image in all of Norway.
We remember to get another memory card for the camera before continuing to Geiranger for a three night stay. This is one of the most extraordinary destinations in Norway and really is a highlight of your tour.Often described as "Probably the most beautiful place in the world". It’s all you expect Norway to be! A deep plunging fjord with an amazing mountain backdrop. Don’t miss the superb Dalsnibba viewing point at over five thousand feet. Enjoy with us the ride up the Trollstigen Curves - a day out on the bike that you will never forget. Twisty switchbacks, a cascading waterfall and a glacier at the top. Norway in all it's natural beauty explored by motorcycle. Truly a unique experience!
Take a fjord cruise out of Geiranger, head out to Alesund on the coast and join us on the fantastic Atlantic Road ride out. A major engineering achievement that bridges a number of islands out into the Atlantic Sea. But pick a still day because when the wind gets up this can be a wild ride!
You have the opportunity to upgrade to a superior room in Ulvik & Geiranger where rooms look out over the fjord. On our recent visit it was amazing to wake up, look out of the window from our superbly located hotel and be confronted by a view of such stupendous beauty.
Leaving Geiranger we continue our exciting adventure riding our motorbikes northwards to the Arctic Circle. The scenery changes and becomes wilder and more rugged as we motorcycle onwards to Mo-i-Rana known locally as the “Gateway to the Arctic”. Situated half way between the very north and the very south of Norway this will be our base for the very highlight of our extended tour! We will ride out on our motorcycles and cross the Arctic Circle after 50 miles to visit the Arctic Circle Visitor Centre and yes, you can get a certificate to prove you have been there! Learn what life is like living in the Arctic or simply enjoy the stunning backdrop...
All too soon it’s time for us to turn our wheels and head south but remember this is Norway so the journey continues with great scenery all the way. After an overnight stopover near Trondheim, the former capital of Norway with its famous Nideros Cathedral, we ride our motorcycles onwards to visit Lillehammer, host to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Look at the steep slopes and marvel at the courage of those winter Olympians hurtling down at breakneck speed. Witness at first hand the improbable heights of the ski jump and wonder just how Eddie the Eagle had the courage to take up this unlikely sport!
We then continue our journey spending half a day in Oslo where you can visit the Viking Museum before boarding the overnight ferry homewards via Denmark. After on overnight stop enroute near Hamburg we continue to catch our overnight ferry back to Harwich.
