Bohemia….. The very name conjures a historic past. Located in the west of the Czech Republic the area is rich in castles, countryside, good food, excellent beer and of course not far away is the charismatic capital of Prague. And the race circuit at Brno is not far away too!
Our base is the picturesque, medieval town of Tabor, in South Bohemia, where the historic centre has been declared a City Monument Reservation. The Old Town is particularly pretty - stroll along the cobbled streets lined with colourful residences and discover its unusual subterranean passageways. Why not park your bike in Jan Zika Square and start your day with a coffee and delicious cake!
Tabor is an ideal base for exploring the whole region. Our suggested ride outs include Krumlow Castle, and Hluboka Castle (click these links - you will not believe what you see!) and Ceske Budejovice home of the famous, original, undiluted, Budweiser beer. The town itself has a lovely centre and if you ride out on the Prague road you can visit the Budvar Brewery. A full day should certainly be devoted to Prague. Plan an early start and make the most of the captivating capital city. Another famous beer town, Pilzen, also beckons and of course its possible to make a tour of this brewery too! When (if?) you tire of beer and castles enjoy a scenic ride out to Sumava National Park to ride through some truly beautiful landscapes. If you are happy to explore further afield on your bike, North Bohemia is well worth a visit and also the delightful spa towns of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) and Marianske Lazne to the west of Prague. These places are largely unspoilt and a real step back in time.
Our four star hotel is a recently converted brewery right in the historical heart of Tabor close to the remains of a fourteenth century castle. All rooms are en-suite with mini bar, safe, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and iron/ironing board on request. There is a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day and a sauna and indoor pool (charge made) for when you come back at the end of the day. Massage treatments are available to ease those aches and pains from too much motorcycling! There is a bar, café and an atmospheric restaurant in the vaulted cellar of the hotel where you will be served your evening meal. The wine list includes Czech Moravian wine or you may prefer a more local Czech beer! And whilst you are enjoying dinner or discovering the town, your bike will be parked safely in the hotel garage.
This is an exciting new tour, offering a good standard of accommodation in an attractive location with lots of biking roads and local scenery to explore. Go for it!
