Umbria is still a tranquil jewel, never crowded, frequented by the connoisseurs and pathfinders who always find the best places before the masses even know they exist. After a stopover en route and an overnight in the Lugano area, you will arrive for three nights in Perugia, the capital of Umbria. Our air-conditioned renaissance-style modern four star hotel is located in the historic centre, next to the imposing Rocca Paolina Fortress which dominates the town. Wander through a Piazza surrounded by palaces - the most beautiful in all Italy, ride out to Assisi, birthplace of Saint Francis, step back in time and discover for yourself the delightful towns of Gubbio, Todi and Torgiano...

Then continue your tour to stay four nights in the delightful thermal spa town of Montecatini Terme in Tuscany where the Roman baths have been restored to their former splendour. Florence, Pisa and Lucca are all nearby and on our suggested ride out you can visit the walled medieval town of San Gimignano with its seven towers and the famous Campo at Siena. Ride to the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci to see an amazing display of his inventions - from a 15th century push bike to a prototype helicopter.
