Treat yourself to a fantastic15 day adventure to Norway and the Arctic Circle
Norway via Denmark. Ride your motorbike through two different countries, a fascinating destination and wild untamed countryside await you on this amazing Viking adventure
Rural landscapes in Denmark, contrasted by plunging, deep sided fjords, majestic peaks, stunning scenery and coastal splendour in Norway. From the mild southern fjords to the wild coastal and northern areas we have planned this tour to include the best that Norway has to offer. It is a true motorcycle riding feast.
The tour takes you from Harwich to Esbjerg, your first destination in Denmark, and a short ride to the northern tip of the country for an overnight stay. The next day there’s a day time ferry crossing to Norway and a ride through the lovely Setesdal Valley and into the Telemark. This is an area of great natural beauty and our resort is popular with skiers during the winter months.
Our ride next day is through scenery of jaw-dropping beauty as you ride your motorcycle alongside fjords where the still waters reflect the sky in a complete mirror image. On a clear, still day every bend is a major photo opportunity - it really is just sooo pretty. On our recent group visit it was amazing to wake up, look out of the window and be confronted by a view of such stupendous beauty. You will ride around the fjords and remember to get another memory card before continuing to Geiranger for a two night stay. This is one of the most extraordinary destinations in Norway and really is a highlight of your tour.Often described as "Probably the most beautiful place in the world". It’s all you expect Norway to be! A deep plunging fjord with an amazing mountain backdrop. Don’t miss the superb Dalsnibba viewing point at over five thousand feet. Also enjoy a ride up the Trollstigen Curves - a day out on the bike that you will never forget. Twisty switchbacks, a cascading waterfall and a glacier at the top. Norway in all it's natural beauty explored by motorcycle. Truly a unique experience! Or if you want a day of relaxation take a fjord cruise out of Geiranger.
After all the superlatives of Geiranger we head out on the fantastic Atlantic Road. A major engineering achievement that bridges a number of islands out into the Atlantic Sea. Another tour highlight!
After a stay on the coast you will continue your exciting adventure riding your motorbikes northwards to the Arctic Circle. The scenery changes and becomes wilder and more rugged as we motorcycle onwards to Mo-i-Rana known locally as the “Gateway to the Arctic” via Trondheim. Mo-i-Rana is situated half way between the very north and the very south of Norway and this will be your base for the very highlight of your tour! You can ride out on your motorcycle and cross the Arctic Circle after 50 miles to visit the Arctic Circle Visitor Centre and yes, you can get a certificate to prove you have been there! Learn what life is like living in the Arctic or simply enjoy the stunning backdrop... Travel in June for the longest days and the nightime sun.
All too soon it’s time for us to turn our wheels and head south but remember this is Norway so the journey continues with great scenery all the way. After an overnight stopover near Trondheim, the former capital of Norway with its famous Nideros Cathedral, you ride your motorcycle onwards to visit Lillehammer, host to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Look at the steep slopes and marvel at the courage of those winter Olympians hurtling down at breakneck speed. Witness at first hand the improbable heights of the ski jump and wonder just how Eddie the Eagle had the courage to take up this unlikely sport! We then continue our journey homewards via Denmark and the overnight ferry back to Harwich.
