Your Magical Garden Route Tour will start when we pick you up from the airport and bring you to your newly built hotel right in the centre of Cape Town where the cosmopolitan vibe of the city encapsulates you. Enjoy a welcome drink and join us for dinner in a restaurant close by so that we can brief you and tell you all about the wonderful highlights of this fantastic tour!
We start for real next morning as we explore the delights of Cape Town's V&A waterfront where we pick up the motorbikes from the rental agency before heading off on an orientation ride! We navigate the famous Peninsula Route around Chapmans Peak giving us exquisite views over the city with Table Mountain always in the background. We ride through the Cape Point Reserve chasing ostriches on our way to the Cape of Good Hope and at Boulders Beach we marvel at the varieties of penguins at play in their natural environment.
On this Garden Route motorcycle tour you will experience an enjoyable balance between motorbike riding and having a vacation. We have tried to fine tune the days in such a way that you get enough of both worlds whilst exploring South Africa’s coastline and getting to know all about its cultural diversities and natural beauty. From Table Mountain your motorcycle travels will take you to the southern most tip of Africa at L’Agulhas. We do so via Hermanus regarded by many as South Africa’s top whale watching mecca. Riding in an easterly direction we explore the Garden Route and pass the likes of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, popular holiday resorts in South Africa. We also cross the Bloukrans Bridge, home to the highest commercial bungee jump operation (216m) in the world. Soon after departing the Garden Route, we arrive in the Eastern Cape Province where we stay in a lodge on the fringe of the Addo National Park. We go on a morning safari in search of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo) in the Addo National Elephant Park. Afterwards we continue with our motorcycles travels inland to traverse the Karoo plains, a vast semi arid region reminiscent of the American Wild West. Next stop is a lodge with swimming pool at Oudtshoorn, ostrich capital of the world. Here we learn more about these big birds and also explore the world renowned Cango Caves and Klein Karoo.
We ride back to the heartland of the wine lands via Route 62, said to be the longest wine route in the world and travel along the northern slopes of the Langeberge Mountain Range before we reach our farmstay in a quality private winery at Robertson, where we enjoy a traditional braai or barbeque and sample the delightful local wines. After breakfast we head via Villersdorp to Franschoek where beautiful unspoilt buildings recall the history of the French Huguenots who first arrived and settled here in 1688. As avid motorcycle enthusiasts we endeavour to travel every mountain pass to reach our destination and so we ride the Franschoek Pass as well as the Du Toitskloof and Bainskloof Passes in the Cape Winelands. Table Mountain awaits us once more as we make our way back to Cape Town having traversed some spectacular roads through the Stellenbosch wine region.
Our Magical Garden Route Experience comes to an end after riding our motorcycles on some of the best routes in South Africa. Each of us should use the time to reflect on the experiences we have lived and some of the memories that we will treasure to share with friends and loved ones as we head back home.
