Wild West Tour

Book your airline ticket to America and ride with us to explore the best of the Wild West!

Arrive in Los Angeles a few days early if you like to recover from the jet lag and then it's off on the hired bikes past the San Bernadino Mountains to an oasis in the desert , Palm Springs, for our first overnight stay. Next morning an early start to avoid the worst of the desert heat as we head out via the Joshua Tree National Park to the border town of Needles and the State line between California and Arizona! Ditch the helmet if you must as different laws apply as we head down the old Route 66 to Kingman and a burger or milkshake in a traditional American diner! Kingman thrived in the 1950s as an old town on Route 66 that was also a major intersection for the SantaFe railroad. To this day the railway traffic is heavy and you can marvel at the length of the trains that can have as many as four locomotives pulling and two locos pushing freight carriages well over a mile long.

From Kingman we ride to the majestic Grand Canyon before heading further out into Navajo territory and the National Parks and extraordinary shapes of Monument Valley that beckon into the beyond... This is the proper Wild West and the backdrop for many Hollywood movies. You can be Peter Fonda on a Harley chasing the American dream in the morning and gunslinging John Wayne in the afternoon. As you ride along the highway your imagination takes over aided by the visual feast in front of you! The scale of the landscapes really is difficult to take in - for this really is the BIG country.

It's difficult to get across to you just how wild and how remote these parts of America can be. We have visited Monument Valley and Zion National Park to set up this tour and at times the absence of traffic really does give you a lonely feeling. Just as well that we will be travelling in a group! But you really can go for half an hour and not see another car or bike. Spooky. After Zion we return to civilisation and the madness that is Las Vegas for an overnight stay. Everyone has a different reaction to Vegas. Some like it, some loathe it. One of our clients last year spent hundreds of dollars to see Cher in concert. Was it worth it? The smile on her face the next morning said it all. And that's what Vegas can do for you. Extraordinary shows (book them from the UK - the big names are always sold out) incredible architecture and everything on a massive scale. Come see for yourself...

From Las Vegas via Death Valley and the twists and turns of the Tioga Pass into Yosemite National Park, the most famous and magnificent of the many beautiful canyons in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. A day spent in Yosemite National Park is a day you’ll never forget. We ride past Lake Mead and over Hoover Dam and stay overnight at Yosemite before continuing  for San Francisco. Your guide will take you to two vantage points for the best views and photos of the Golden Gate Bridge that will give you treasured memories of the tour. There are many things to do and see in San Francisco.  Make the most of your free day.

After a two night stopover in San Francisco we head out along the Pacific Coast Highway, California. Highway One hugs the coast passing through some of the most dramatic scenery anywhere in the world. Big Sur, and its 90 miles of coastline is one of the most memorable stretches with mountains 5,000 feet tall rising straight up from the Pacific Ocean. It’s also a narrow, twisty, great motorcycling road! We sample the delights of Carmel and Monterey Bay and if time allows a guided tour of Hearst Castle – a hilltop paradise of extravagant Italian design with a strange 1930s flavour. Back in Los Angeles you may decide to stay on for a few extra days to go sightseeing in Hollywood, buy presents for your loved ones in Rodeo Drive or maybe just spend some time watching the surfers at Malibu Beach as you listen to Beach Boys music on the stereo of your ElectraGlide...

All accommodation has been carefully selected, all rooms will be en-suite and most hotels/motels have swimming pools and hot tubs. Your MCi Tour guides, have many years experience organising motorcycle tours.
