Le Mans 24hours Endurance

You may be familiar with the 24hrs Car Race at Le Mans? Well this is the motorcycling equivalent. A real test of man and machine rather than a twenty minute thrash around the circuit! The race starts at 3pm on the Saturday and goes through the night, the bikes aglow with neon and LEDs so that supporters can follow the individual teams as they try to complete as many laps as possible within 24 hours. It's not just about riding fast through the night, it's about making sure the bike will last the course and the pitstops carried out to timed perfection. If you can stay up all night, the race finishes the following afternoon at 3pm. It really is an amazing spectacle!

In keeping with tradition, the 33rd Le Mans 24hrs for motorcycles will be the first round of the Endurance World Championship consisting of five races in 2010. Honda France, which made its return to Endurance last year, is out to take its revenge on Yamaha - a difficult call as the Yamaha factory made a clean sweep of all the major world motorcycle race championships in 2009... Our own British team Phase One Endurance will be hoping to build on their late success in the 2009 season campaigning a Yamaha R1that came in second at the last meeting in Qatar. That's no mean achievement for a privateer team operating on a very limited budget! They deserve your support!

You will be away on your bike for a long weekend that starts early Friday morning sailing from Dover to Calais before arriving late afternoon at your Hotel in the centre of Le Mans. Your weekend ticket includes access to the circuit from early on the Saturday morning when you can see the burn-outs and stunt teams that warm up the crowd as a prelude to the Main Event. At three o'clock the riders run across from the pits to fire up their machines and the race is on! Unlike GP events there is a large tented village where you can buy all sorts of motorcycle related merchandise - clothing, helmets, aftermarket parts for your bike - it's not just just overpriced T-shirts and hats! Then there's the funfair and the crowd all dedicated to having a party throughout the whole weekend! You may decide to return to your Hotel around midnight, but be sure to return the following morning as the race is still on until the final lap at three in the afternoon. You have to see it to believe it!

Enjoy a great weekend trip returning to the UK late afternoon on Sunday.
